The Network Security group typically has several opportunities for undergraduates. Students can receive credit for independent study, some students are employed by NetSec research projects, and the lab employs undergraduate lab administrators. A list of positions is posted below. Interested students should contact Dr. Massey or Dr. Papadopoulos.
You must apply for merit work study in order to be considered a position. More information on the applicaiton process is available from Elaine Regelson, Director of Mentoring and Rention for the CS Department
Fall 2007
Any students interested in security should consider participating in the NetSec Red Team. You do not need to be expert in security to participate.
Most positions for Fall 2007 have been filled, but you can still Contact Dr. Massey or Dr. Papadopoulos for more information.
The following students are employed for Fall 2007:
- Jon Hajdu and Jonas Acres are working on DNSSEC revisited and deploying remote montiors for tracking DNS security.
- Nick Parrish is working on building clients for the BGP monitor project and helping to design a new P2P approach of scaling route monitoring.
- Chris Mullins will start work as system administrator for the lab.
- Ben Tuscher is working on improving the Prefix Hijack Alert System
- Brendan Sheridan is the labs security administrator and helping to develop the Red Team events with the US Air Force Academy.
The following students are working on independent study in Fall 2007:
- Brian Eller is working on deploying DNSSEC and coordinating DNSSEC deployment with the Secure64 platform.
Future Positions
Any students interested in security should consider participating in the NetSec Red Team. You do not need to be expert in security to participate.
We typically have summer internships for Colorado State undergraduates and Summer 2008 information will be posted in late January 2008. Past Internships for Summer 2007.
